Painter Hans Hofmann once said ‘A work of Art is a world in itself reflecting senses and emotions of the artist’s world’. My world is your world, and this piece is an invitation to reflect about its content, hoping that you are also able to reflect on it. The performance venue has been the inspiration and the departure point for every exploration I have done in relation to this work. This journey made me reflect about different ideas and experience the suggestive power of the location. It made me question the concepts of emergency and rescue, and the elements of fire and water. It brought me all the way to ancient China to explore the philosophy of Lao Tzu and how he used water as a metaphor for the hidden power of nature. It took me to Japan to look into the groundbreaking research of Dr. Masaru Emoto of how water is deeply connected to our individual and collective consciousness. It made me question our present relation toward water, and all the challenges we are facing today. Trying to understand the hidden message behind these concepts has been the challenge. This work is a reflection of that journey.
